WTC 2023: India win Test series vs Bangladesh 2-0

India won the second match of the two-Test series against Bangladesh by three wickets. They chased down the target of 145 for the loss of seven wickets on the fourth day of the match on Sunday (December 25) to whitewash the hosts 2-0 in the series. India won the first Test in Chittagong by 188 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara was adjudged Player of the Series and Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged Player of the Match. In this match, Bangladesh scored 227 runs in the first innings. In response, India scored 314 runs. Bangladesh team managed to score 231 runs in the second innings and set a target of 145 runs in front of India. In response, India had scored 45 runs for four wickets by the end of the third day’s play. Team India lost three more on the fourth day. They won the match by scoring 145 runs for seven wickets.

The Indian team has won the 18th consecutive series in Asia by defeating Bangladesh. They last faced defeat at  home against England in 2012-13 series. Then Team India lost 2-1 in the four-Test series. Since then India won 15 series at their home ground. At the same time, there were two series wins in Sri Lanka and once in Bangladesh.

With the series win team India is placed second behind Australia in the World Test Championship 2023 table.
