BGT 2023: India win second Test by six wickets; take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series

The second match of the Border-Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia has been won by the Indian team by six wickets. With this, India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series. In this match, Australia scored 263 runs in the first innings. In response to this, India scored 262 runs. Australia’s team was reduced to 113 runs in the second innings and set a target of 115 runs in front of India. Team India achieved this on the third day itself by losing four wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was the wrecker-in-chief for the Aussies, picking up a career best 7 wickets in the second innings. Ravi Ashwin picked the remaining 3 wickets as the visitors collapsed from 93-3 to 113 all-out.

Cheteshwar Pujara gave victory to Team India by hitting a four off Murphy’s ball. Pujara remained unbeaten on 31 and India scored 23 runs. India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. With this victory, the path to the final of the World Test Championship has become very easy for India. Now India needs one win in the remaining two matches and Team India will play the final of the World Test Championship for the second consecutive time in June.

The Indian team has been announced for the last two Test matches of the series against Australia and the three-match ODI series. There has been no change in the Test team. At the same time, fast bowlers Jaydev Unadkat and all rounder Ravindra Jadeja have returned in ODIs. Unadkat last played an ODI for India in November 2013 against the West Indies. At the same time, Jadeja played the last ODI in July 2022 against England. India vs Australia ODI series will start from 17th March.
