Uttarakhand government issues new guidelines for smart ration card

The cardholder will have to pay a fee of Rs 17 to get a new smart ration card under the public distribution system. The Uttarakhand government has issued a new guideline for smart ration cards. Under this, if the ration card is lost or damaged, then duplicate card will be charged at Rs 25.

The period of ration cards currently in vogue in the state to get cheaper ration has expired in the year 2018. Now portability ration cards are being made by the government in the state. For this, the Food and Supplies Department has started the process of making new smart ration cards.

According to the guidelines issued by the government to all districts, there will be uniformity in ration cards made under Antyodaya, Primary Family and State Food Scheme. The consumer will have to pay a fee of Rs 17 for the new ration card and renewal. While a fee of Rs 25 will have to be paid for making a duplicate ration card.
The new smart ration card will be signed by the District Supply Officer. The old ration card holder has to be deposited while making a new card. The old ration cards will be destroyed in the presence of a designated magistrate on behalf of the District Magistrate.

Upto ten family members in a card

Up to tenĀ  members can be registered in the new ration card. If the number of members in a family is more than 10, then such card holder will be made a separate card. In the first phase, new cards will be made to the same ration card holders, in which the Aadhaar number of all the members has been verified.

Guidelines have been issued to all districts for making new smart ration cards in the state. Smart card scheme will be launched soon.
