Uttarakhand weather update: Rains expected till August 9

The Meteorological Department says that after August 5, there may another spell of rains across the state. Orange alert of heavy rain has been issued for Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts on August 6. While yellow alert has been issued for Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora. Orange alert has been issued for Almora, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts on 7th August. While yellow alert has been declared for Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora districts. There will be no respite from the torrential rains even on August 8.

Orange alert has been declared for Almora, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar . While Yellow Alert has been issued for Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar. Yellow alert has been issued for Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Almora, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar while Orange alert of heavy rain has been issued for Bageshwar, Pauri, Dehradun and Tehri Garhwal on August 9. The situation may worsen due to torrential rains in the areas for which orange alert is issued.

Highways may be blocked due to landslides. Incidents of debris-boulder fall may come to the fore. Those living near small rivers and streams have been advised to be alert. There is a possibility of landslides in the mountains. State government officials have been advised to take security measures. Along with this, farmers have been told to keep cut vegetables/crops in a safe place in view of the rains. Passengers have been advised to be careful while traveling.
