Uttarakhand weather update: Relief from heat expected in these districts

People in Uttarakhand may get some respite from the heat. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of rain and hailstorm in many districts of the state. Light to moderate rain may occur over Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh on April 18 and 19.

There is a possibility of light rain in the remaining districts of Garhwal and Kumaon. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of hailstorm in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. Apart from this, winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Pauri and Haridwar.

Earlier on Monday, the weather remained dry across the state. The hot temperatures made it difficult for the people to work outdoors.

The sun was shining brightly since morning. By afternoon the heat increased considerably. During this period, the maximum temperature of Dehradun was 37.2 degree Celsius, four degree Celsius above normal and the minimum temperature was 19.4 degree Celsius, two degree Celsius above normal. There is a possibility of rain, hailstorm and strong winds in five districts of the mountain on Tuesday. There is a possibility of a storm with a speed of 70 kilometers per hour in some areas of the state on Wednesday. In view of this, Yellow Alert has been issued.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for high temperatures in West Bengal, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions are likely in Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.
