IMD issues yellow alert for rain in 7 districts including Dehradun

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains and showers in all the districts of Uttarakhand for the next four days. The department says that there is a possibility of lightning with thunder at some places and intense to very intense spells of rain.

According to Meteorological Center Director Dr. Bikram Singh, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat, US Nagar districts. In other districts too, there may be strong showers accompanied by lightning.

The weather may remain like this till July 27. On the other hand, there were one or two rounds of heavy showers in other districts including Doon on Sunday. 20.5 mm of rain was recorded in Ranipokhari, 13 in Jakholi and 10 mm in Dhanaulti.

Temperature five degrees above normal in Dehradun

The temperature has increased in the state due to the less rain and strong sunlight. Doon recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius, five above normal. 35.1 in Pantnagar, 22.4 in Mukteshwar, 24.9 degree temperature was recorded in New Tehri.
