Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency said in a statement that the fire, which began early Tuesday, has affected homes, businesses and services as well as more than 35,000 people living on the island of Maui. The state agency said the fire has burned more than 2,000 acres (800 ha). The forest fire is currently out of control.
