Weather patterns will change from mountains to plains today, rain alert issued

There are chances of rain across the state today on Monday. The Meteorological Department Center has issued orange alert for rain in the hilly districts and yellow alert in the plains. According to the release issued by the Centre, there are chances of lightning and rain with thunder at some places in all the hilly districts. Today, there was a thick dark cloud cover accompanied by strong winds in capital Doon which increased the cold.

At the same time, there may be rain at some places in the plain districts also. The sky will be partly to generally cloudy. According to the weather forecast, yellow alert for rain has been issued for tomorrow i.e. 17th October in all the districts except Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts. However, the weather across the state will remain dry from October 18.

Meanwhile, the second snowfall of the season occurred on all the peaks including Badrinath, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib. Due to which severe cold has started in the surrounding areas. A decline in mercury is also being recorded in low-lying areas. In the weather forecast, a special orange alert has been issued for four hours till 12 noon today, October 16.

In the hilly areas from Garhwal to Kumaon, there was light to moderate snowfall on the peaks. Along with strong winds, light drizzle was also recorded at some places. The weather became cold due to drop in temperature in the mountains. The weather in Kedarnath Dham was cold since morning and heavy snowfall started in the afternoon yesterday.

According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, the activity of western disturbance has increased in the state. Due to which there are chances of snowfall and hailstorm due to development of clouds in the Himalayan regions. On Monday, there may be thunderstorms and hailstorm in most areas of the state. Orange alert has been issued regarding this. There are chances of light rain at some places and snowfall in the peaks.
