Uttarakhand cabinet approves new film policy, subsidy for local films increased eight times

The Uttarakhand government under its new film policy has increased the subsidy eight times for those making Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari films in the state. At the same time, the subsidy for those shooting films in the state in 22 languages included in the Eighth Schedule has also been doubled. For this, the new film policy has been approved by the Cabinet led by CM Dhami. At the same time, the Cabinet has also approved the proposal to increase the tax on commercial vehicles by 10 percent.

In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday, 18 proposals were received, out of which 16 were approved. Mainly under the new film policy, the subsidy for those shooting in Uttarakhand for films in 22 languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution has been increased from Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 3 crore.

Five percent more subsidy will be available on showing the name of the location

At the same time, the subsidy for film makers in Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari has been increased from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 2 crore. Those shooting at new locations in hilly areas will get an additional five percent subsidy and if the name of that location is shown in the film, five percent more subsidy will be given. The special thing is that those who give a chance to local artists in the film will get a separate amount of Rs 10 lakh.

The government will provide 50 percent (General) and 75 percent (SC, ST, OBC) scholarship to students who study from a recognized film training institute. Those opening cinema halls in hilly areas will get a lump sum amount of Rs 25 lakh.

UCC proposal in cabinet expected on this date

There was no discussion in the cabinet regarding Uniform Civil Code. It is likely that its proposal will be brought in the cabinet meeting to be held on February 6 in the morning. The UCC Act is expected to be presented in the Assembly on the same day.
