China builds 600 kmph capable Maglev train

China has launched a prototype of magnetic levitation (maglev) train running at a speed of 600 kilometers per hour (373mph). The magnetic capability of this train is designed by the government company CRRC Qingdao Sifang. The company launched the first model of this train in Qingdao city of Shandong province on Thursday. China plans to launch this train within next two years.

China’s Ministry of Science and Technology started work on this project in 2016 under the 13th Five Year Plan. The high speed maglev train is being seen as an air travel alternate option. The fastest train speed in China is currently 350 kilometers per hour.

It is being told that the maglev train with speed of 600 kmph will make less noise than the average bullet train. Its carrying capacity is high, but its maintenance costs will be reduced.
