Bodies of five missing Nanda Devi trekkers found

In the case of the disappearance of eight members of the Nanda Devi trekking party. Five crew and some equipment’s have been found by the Air Force personnel from the helicopter on the rescue mission on Monday morning. DM VK Jogandande confirmed this. It was reported that 8 trekkers had gone missing while on a trek to climb Nanda Devi peak. Seven climbers from the UK, USA and Australia and one from India were part of the eight member team..

Nanda Devi East campaign, run by Himalayan Run and Trek Private Limited Delhi, left from New Delhi on May 10. This group comprised 12 members. Which included three from UK, three from USA, an Australian climber, an Indian Liasoning Officer and four Porters. Even from Munsiysari, 16 porters and laborers went to the base camp carrying luggage. On 13th May, the party left the Nanda Devi base camp from Munasari. The organization of New Delhi, sponsoring the campaign on the evening of May 31, informed the district administration about the disappearance of foreign mountaineers and Indian officer. After getting the information, DM, Dr. VK Jogdande, contacted ITBP, SDRF, and directed them to start the search and rescue operations.

Four climbers have already been rescued

During the Nanda Devi expedition, four trekkers which includes a women trekker. from England, trapped in the base camp, have been rescued by helicopter from the helicopter. After which they were taken to the army’s own hospital. The four trekkers had not gone to climb the ascent.

Seven climbers from the UK, USA and Australia are in this expedition sponsored by M/s Himalayan Run and Trek Ltd New Delhi . In which Team Leader is England’s Martin McCrain. The party left Munsiyari on May 13. The team was supposed to return Munsiyari on Saturday, June 1.

In the year 2017, seven jawans were missing in the Nanda Devi campaign. Earlier, seven mountaineers of ITBP also went missing in the Panchachuli campaign.
