DCW chairperson issues summons over mass molestation in Gargi College Fest

The case of molesting female students during the annual fest at Gargi College, Delhi has started to heat up. This matter has reached the Lok Sabha. Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on Monday that external elements were involved in the alleged molestation of female students at Delhi’s Gargi College and the institute administration has been asked to take action. In reply to a supplementary question of Congress member Gaurav Gogoi during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Pokhriyal said that the government is aware of the incident of Gargi College. He said, “Outsiders were involved in the incident, not students.” This was not a good incident. The college administration has been asked to take action.

On the last day of the fest, from 3 pm to 9 pm on Thursday afternoon, girls were molested in the indecent. Due to the jammer, they could not even complain by calling. Accused entered college incorrectly. Some climbed over the wall. Police and college security were deployed during the fest, but they did nothing. It is alleged that people were allowed inside without seeing the pass and ID card. There was no help from the principal and the college administration.

February 6 was the last day of the college fest, with Bollywood singer Zubin Nautiyal arriving. Students of Girls College say the entry was by a Pass, but many boys reached this festival. The girls allege that these micreants were not students and that many of them were drunk. They did obscene acts with girls, even following them up to Metro PG.

 

Swati Maliwal, chairperson of Delhi Commission of Women issued notices to police and Principal of Gargi College asking them to appear on February 13. Swati Maliwal also talked to several girl students in the college regarding the incident. Maliwal said, “We have issued notice to the Delhi Police and Gargi College for not taking action. We will investigate the incident ourselves. We demand a detailed investigation into the case and arrest of the accused. ”She said that the manner in which the Delhi Police and Gargi College have reacted to such a serious incident is irresponsible.” Maliwal said, “The girls have given statements and shared tragic experiences.”
