ICC World T20: India-Pakistan drawn in same group

In the ICC men’s T20 World Cup, the match between India and Pakistan will be seen in the group stage. The International Cricket Council has put India and Pakistan together in Group-2 of Super 12. There are two groups in Super 12, in which six teams have been kept. In Group-2 besides India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Group-A runner-up, Group-B top team will be there. While Group-1 will have England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Group-A top team and Group B runner up. Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia are in Group A, while Bangladesh, Scotland, Papuna New Guinea and Oman are in Group B.

This time teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have also not been able to qualify directly for the T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will have to be winners or runners-up in their respective groups to qualify for the Super-12. The group has been selected on the basis of the ranking of 20 March 2021. The T20 World Cup is to be played from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. Earlier, the T20 World Cup was to be played in India, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to be shifted to the UAE. However, the hosting of the tournament will be the responsibility of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). West Indies are the defending champions of the previous edition.
