Heartbreak for Nisha Dahiya at Olympics after picking up injury
Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya had to face defeat in the quarter-finals of the women’s 68 kg category on Monday at Paris Olympics 2024. North Korean wrestler Pak Sol Gum defeated her 10-8. She got injured during the match, so Nisha had to face defeat despite the initial lead.
Nisha cried inconsolably after losing the match. She took a lead of 4 points in the beginning. In no time, Dahiya increased her lead to 6-1. During this, the North Korean wrestler caught her fast. Dahiya scored two more points to increase her lead to 8-1, but during this time she got injured in her right hand.
Continued the match even after injury
Even after the injury, she decided to continue the match. She was seen in pain after every hold. The Indian wrestler was ahead 8-1 in the second round. During this, she requested to stop the match, the match started again after taking medical help. There were just 33 seconds left during this period.
Seconds later, she returned to the mat citing pain in her shoulder. Despite continuing with the bout, Nisha was barely able to participate. Her opponent showed no mercy either and made the most of the opportunity to score a brilliant 7 points with 12 seconds remaining, tying the match. With 10 seconds to go, she bagged two more points and won the match 10-8.
