Paris Olympics 2024: Neeraj Chopra reaches final, qualifies with first throw

Athlete Neeraj Chopra, the biggest hope for a medal for the Indian team, entered the final round. In the qualification of javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024, the Tokyo gold medalist secured a place in the final by throwing 89.34 meters in the first throw itself. His teammate Kishore Kumar Jena failed to make it to the final. Both the players had been placed in different groups. Now all eyes are on the defending champion Neeraj Chopra.

Neeraj Chopra was in first place among the javelin throwers in both the groups. The Olympic gold medalist, who came for the first throw, announced his arrival by achieving a distance of 89.34 meters. With one throw, Neeraj confirmed his place in the final and the fans rejoiced. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem made it to the final by throwing 86.59 meters.

In javelin throw, two athletes of the Indian team came out to present their claim on the 11th day of the Paris Olympics. Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Kumar Jena were to enter the men’s javelin throw. In the qualification, Kishor failed to achieve the mark of 84 meters and thus was eliminated in the first round itself.

In the qualification round of the javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics 2024, Kishore Jena threw the first throw of 80.73 meters while the second throw was a foul. After this, in the third throw and the last throw, he was able to throw the javelin 80.21 meters.
