Historic Yatra: Devotees view Mount Kailash from India amid Navratri festivities

The dream of Shiva devotees to view the holy Kailash mountain from India itself has been fulfilled today. On the first day of Navratri, a five-member team of devotees saw Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh located in Pithoragarh district. Devotees were overwhelmed by the divine sight of Mount Kailash. After getting the green signal from the central government, the Uttarakhand government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had geared up for the successful conduct of the Yatra. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has duly announced a tour package for this.

On the initiative of Uttarakhand Vikas Parishad, Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has created a 5-day tour package for viewing Mount Kailash. This package also includes darshan of two other Dhams of Lord Shiva, Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. Under the package, the first 5-member group of pilgrims visited Mount Kailash today on Thursday. The group of pilgrims was transported to Gunji village in Pithoragarh via helicopter last Wednesday. Today, on Thursday, all the devotees were taken to see Om Parvat and Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh by road. Tomorrow, all these devotees will be taken to Adi Kailash from Jolingkong and will be given night rest in Gunji. After this, on October 5, all the devotees will be taken back to Pithoragarh via helicopter.

A Devotee, who came for this Yatra Darshan, said that he has felt immense happiness after visiting these holy shrines of Lord Shiva. The vision of the supernatural beauty of Mount Kailash, Adi Kailash and Om Parvat has mesmerized him. At the same time, another devotee said that he has attained nirvana after seeing these abodes of Lord Shiva. The mind is getting a different kind of happiness by seeing this panoramic view of nature. He has expressed gratitude to the government for conducting this journey.

Earlier, one had to cross the China border for the journey

Before the Corona period, the central government used to organize Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam. Then Lord Shiva devotees used to visit Kailash Mansarovar by crossing the China border by walking from Lipu Pass. This journey has been closed since the Corona outbreak period. For a long time, Shiva devotees were eager to visit Kailash Mansarovar. In view of this, the central government decided to make the devotees see the holy Kailash mountain from the land of India itself.

Villagers discovered the view point

Local villagers located in Pithoragarh district discovered a view point on the 18 thousand feet high Lipulekh hills from where Kailash mountain is clearly visible. On the information of the villagers, a team of officers and experts who arrived conducted a survey for other arrangements including road map, accommodation arrangements for the people, route to the point of darshan. Then, after getting the green signal from the central government, the government decided to open Old Lipu Pass for pilgrims from September 15.

It is very pleasant for Shiva devotees to see Mount Kailash from the land of India itself. The government is working towards preventing the problem of migration of local residents by promoting tourism in border villages. In future, facilities will be developed to make this journey even more convenient.
