Kedarnath breaks 2024 record; number of devotees crosses 16.56 lakh

Chardham Yatra has again gained momentum. Despite rain and snowfall, there is great enthusiasm among the passengers. Kedarnath Yatra 2025 has created a new record. Today on Wednesday, the number of devotees here crossed Sixteen lakh fifty two thousand, while there are still 14 days left for the Doors of the sacred temple to be closed for the winters. In the year 2024, 16,52,076 pilgrims had reached Kedar nath during the entire yatra period.
On Wednesday, 5614 devotees visited Kedarnath Dham. The doors of Kedar Dham will be closed on 23rd October 2025 on the occasion of Bhaiya Dooj. Now the journey will continue for 15 more days. Thus, the number of passengers here has created a new record. The number of devotees has also increased in Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. Keeping in view the enthusiasm of the devotees, concrete arrangements have been made by the state government for the safe journey. Security personnel have been deployed along the yatra route. To ensure smooth traffic flow on the Yatra route, arrangements for JCBs have been made to clear debris at landslide-prone places.
The Chardham Yatra started with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham on 30th April this year. After this, the doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened on May 2 and Badrinath Dham on May 4 for the common devotees. Chardham Yatra has been badly affected due to incidents of excessive rainfall, cloud burst and landslides during the monsoon season. Dharali, an important stop of Gangotri Dham, was badly destroyed due to the destruction of nature. The pilgrimage to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham had to be stopped due to the road being badly damaged.
It was a big challenge to restore the travel here even after the rains stopped, but the government and administration teams repaired the travel routes along with the restoration of normal life. The journey to both the Dhams also started with security arrangements. The administration has still advised passengers to take precautions. Travelers have been repeatedly cautioned to avoid traveling during inclement weather.
