Schools in Dehradun district to remain closed on April 27

Uttarakhand is already witnessing the onset of severe heat. In Dehradun, in particular, people are sweating profusely due to the heat, making daily life extremely difficult. In light of this situation—and specifically considering the prevailing heatwave conditions—the District Administration has declared a one-day holiday on Monday, April 27, 2026 for all educational institutions and Anganwadi centers catering to students from Class 1 through Class 12.
Warning Issued Regarding Severe Heat and Heatwave Conditions
An order has been issued by Savin Bansal, the District Magistrate of Dehradun and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority. The order states that, according to the Meteorological Department (Dehradun) and the NDMA portal, severe heatwave conditions and intense hot winds currently persist within the Dehradun district. Furthermore, based on weather forecasts, a warning has been issued indicating that the district is expected to experience extreme heat on April 27 as well.
Holiday Declared for Schools and Anganwadi Centers on April 27
Given the current circumstances, the likelihood of adverse health effects due to excessive heat and hot winds has increased across all areas of the district. Consequently, the risk of heatstroke and dehydration has risen for both students and the general public. Therefore, a one-day holiday has been declared for Monday for all educational institutions and Anganwadi centers operating within the Dehradun district for classes ranging from Class 1 to Class 12.
