Following the latest weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (Dehradun), the Bageshwar district administration has taken precautionary measures and declared a holiday for all schools and Anganwadi centers in the district on August 5, 2026 (Wednesday). This decision was made prioritizing student safety amidst the likelihood of heavy rainfall and inclement weather.
Decision taken following an ‘Orange Alert’
The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for Bageshwar district for August 5, predicting isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, and spells of extremely intense rainfall. In view of this severe weather warning, the district administration decided to declare an immediate holiday.

All schools (Classes 1 to 12) to remain closed
According to the order issued by District Magistrate Apoorva Pandey, all government, government-aided, and private schools (Classes 1 to 12) operating within the district will remain closed on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Additionally, all Anganwadi centers in the district will also remain closed.
