Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand on July 28, schools in these districts to remain closed

In view of the continuously active monsoon in Uttarakhand, the district administration has taken a significant decision. Following a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, a holiday has been declared for July 28 (Tuesday) 2026 for all government, government-aided, and private schools (Classes 1 to 12) as well as all Anganwadi centers in the Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts.

The district administration has taken this decision by prioritizing the safety of the students.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning, thunderstorms, and intense downpours, in several parts of Uttarakhand on July 28. The department has advised people to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel.
