Sensex sees second biggest fall in 2025

The stock market fell today (Tuesday, April 1), the first trading day of the financial year 2025-26. The Sensex fell 1390 points (about 1.80%) to close at 76,024.

This is the second biggest decline this year. Earlier, the Sensex had fallen by 1414 (1.90%) points on February 28. Nifty also fell by about 353 points (about 1.50%), closing at 23,165.

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 27 declined. HCL Tech, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance and Infosys closed with the maximum fall of about 4%. Out of 50 NSE stocks, 36 declined.

Talking about sectoral indices, Realty fell by 3.11%, Consumer Durable by 2.50%, IT by 2.45%, Pharma by 1.73% and Private Bank by 1.21%.
