Alaknanda flows near danger level in Badrinath after heavy rains

The water level of Alaknanda is continuously rising in Badrinath Dham. After Monday afternoon, the water level of the river is flowing close to the danger mark. The river water has reached just six feet below Taptkund.The police has alerted the pilgrims and local people by making announcements in the entire Dham. Also, Tatpkund has also been evacuated.

The water level of Alaknanda river has been rising continuously for the last few days due to rain in the upper regions. On Monday, the water level of Alaknanda river started rising rapidly in Badrinath Dham. Soon the water started flowing near Taptkund. By 6:30 pm, the Alaknanda river was flowing just six feet below Taptkund. Whereas on normal days, Alaknanda flows about 15 feet below Tatpkund.

After the water level of the river increased, the police made an announcement through the loudspeaker in the Dham and appealed to the people not to go to the river bank.

Badrinath police station in-charge Navneet Bhandari said that the water level of the river in the Dham has increased. In view of the possibility of water rising further at night, Taptkund has been evacuated. It is being continuously announced through the mike in the Dham that no one should go to the river bank.
