Dehradun schools to shift to early start, early finish in traffic-easing trial
Under the new plan proposed by the traffic police, schools in Dehradun city will start opening at 7 am and will be closed by 1:45 pm. The school opening time has been advanced by 15 minutes and the closing time by 30 minutes.
This change will be implemented as a trial for a week from July 19. To improve the traffic system in Dehradun, the opening and closing time of 21 big schools has been changed. For this, five zones have been created, which include Curzon Road, EC Road, Subhash Road, Rajpur Road and Nehru Colony zones.
Changes have been made in the opening and closing time of schools in all zones. If a school opens at 7:15 am in a zone, then the schools around it will open 15 to 20 minutes late and the same difference has been kept in the closing time.
Earlier most of the schools used to start opening at 7:15 am, but now they will start opening 15 minutes earlier at 7 am. Students of higher classes will come at 7 am. Schools for small children will start opening from 7:15 am.
Changes have also been made in the closing time of schools. Earlier some schools used to close by 2:15 pm, but now all schools will close by 1:45 pm. It has been claimed that people will get a lot of relief from the problem of traffic jams.
Most schools will close by 1:30 pm which coincides with the lunch time of employees of government and private offices. Due to which the pressure of vehicles in the city increases even more. Traffic management officials believe that if schools close earlier, then the pressure of vehicles on the roads may be be reduced.
Three rounds of meetings have been held with schools
The police have held three rounds of meetings with schools regarding the traffic plan. A new plan was prepared on the basis of the opening and closing time of schools, parking facilities and the number of students.
The traffic plan was prepared after meeting with the schools. In this, changes have been made in the opening and closing time of some schools. Now some schools will open 15 minutes earlier in the morning. This change is for the children of higher classes. This plan has been prepared to improve the traffic system.
