Dehradun secretariat reopens, pending work to be completed on priority

The assembly secretariat, which remained closed during the lockdown imposed due Covid 19 disease prevention, opened on Friday. For the first time after the convening of the budget session on 25 March, the Legislative Assembly saw some movement. Assembly Speaker Premchand Aggarwal also reached the assembly and during this time he handled his tasks. He also discussed with Secretary Vidhan Sabha Jagdish Chand about the disposal of pending works. During this, he instructed to expedite the works of utmost importance. Also said that only the staff of essential services should be called.

On Thursday, the Council of Ministers had decided to open the state secretariat. After this decision, the speaker also ordered the Secretary and top officials Secretariat to come to office and settle the pending work. During this, he told that all the officers in the assembly were present in their office following social distance. All officers and employees are being sanitized and thermal scanning done at the entrance of the assembly premises.

All office rooms and premises are being sanitized. Instructions have been given to follow social distance and essentially wear masks. Aggarwal said that with the opening of office, work will gradually come back on track. He also thanked the government’s decision on opening secretariat and assembly.

Legislative assembly open, ministers settle pending work

Four ministers of state reached their offices when the assembly opened on Friday amid lockdown. Ministers did some of their work and also talked to people over the phone. Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik, Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj and Forest Minister Harak Singh reached the Assembly on Friday. Along with the ministers, their staff also reached the assembly. Ministers also dealt with government work in their chambers and also talked to people over phone.

The nation wide lockdown had been extended till May 3, with partial relaxation in areas from April 20 onwards in areas with nil or very few corona positive cases.
