The plains of Uttarakhand are facing scorching heat. The mercury has crossed 43 in cities like Dehradun, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Haridwar etc. The heat in Dehradun has broken all records for May so far. Here, for the first time in the month of May, the maximum day temperature reached 43.2 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Earlier, the all-time record was of 30 May 2012, when the temperature of Dehradun was recorded at 43.1 degrees Celsius. This time, since 26 May, the maximum temperature of Dehradun was continuously above 40 degrees Celsius.

At present, there seems to be no relief from the heat in the plains of Uttarakhand including Dehradun. Director of the Meteorological Department Bikram Singh said that heat waves i.e. hot winds will blow here during the day.

The temperature is likely to remain above 40 degrees Celsius for the next five days as well. The day temperature will remain above normal even in the hilly cities of Uttarakhand. However, some relief can be felt due to light rain in some areas.
