Uttarakhand Govt orders SIT probe on BJP MLA’s gold purchase

The issue of alleged purchase of gold worth Rs 1.5 crore from a showroom by a BJP MLA to “convert black money into white” on the night demonetisation was announced by PM Modi has snowballed into a major political controversy after CM Harish Rawat ordered a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the matter.
Rawat’s order came after a delegation of AAP members met him on Thursday and handed over a letter seeking a probe.
AAP spokesperson Saroj Pandey said, “Our sources had confirmed the incident, following which our party raised the issue. On November 21, we had handed over a memorandum to the district authorities, addressed to the PM, but no step was initiated.”
Meanwhile, BJP called Rawat’s order “immature” and taken on flimsy grounds without proof or evidence.
