Uttarakhand weather update: Rain alert for these districts

After two days of sunshine, monsoon rains can once again gain momentum from Tuesday. Yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in seven districts including Dehradun on Tuesday (September 17) and Wednesday (September 18).

According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, there may be heavy rain at some places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. The spell of rain will continue on Wednesday as well. There is a possibility of lightning and light rain with thunder at some places in the remaining districts. The weather is likely to be clear once again from September 19.

Effect visible on temperature

On Monday, there was heavy rain for about half an hour in Sahasradhara area at four o’clock in the afternoon. However, in other areas of the city, the sun shone amidst light clouds. Due to sunshine, the maximum temperature of Dehradun was 33.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius. Pantnagar’s maximum temperature was 35.0 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature was 23.1 degrees Celsius.

Mukteshwar’s maximum temperature was 23.0 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature was 13.6 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. Tehri’s maximum temperature was 24.8 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, and the minimum temperature was 15.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
