Uttarakhand weather update: Yellow alert for rains in Doon

There is a possibility of heavy rain in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand today as well. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in some parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat and Nainital districts including Dehradun.

Apart from this, there are chances of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in other districts as well. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in the state till August 13.

Other departments including the Public Works Department are engaged in opening the roads closed due to rain and landslides in the state. On Thursday, 243 routes were opened successfully, but 116 routes are still closed, which are being tried to be opened. Among the closed roads, there is one national highway, 11 state roads, nine main district roads, two other district roads in Pauri district. Apart from this, 93 rural roads are also closed.
