There has been incessant rainfall in Uttarakhand in the past 24 hours, due to which holiday has been declared in schools of many districts of the state today. The administration in Dehradun district has also declared a holiday on July 28, 2026. The order stated that, ‘In view of the current rainfall in the district and the updated weather forecast/nowcast issued by the Director, India Meteorological Department (Dehradun) and the NDMA—predicting isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, lightning, and spells of extremely intense rain in Dehradun district over the next 24 hours—an “Orange” alert has been issued. As this situation could potentially lead to untoward incidents, and with the aim of disaster mitigation, a one-day holiday is hereby declared for all educational institutions (Classes 1 to 12) and Anganwadi centers in the district for July 28, 2026.
Therefore, all government, non-government, and private schools, as well as all Anganwadi centers in the district, shall remain closed on July 28, 2026. The Chief Education Officer, Dehradun, and the District Programme Officer, Dehradun, are directed to ensure compliance with this order across all the aforementioned educational institutions and Anganwadi centers.’
