Yellow alert for heavy rain in many districts including Dehradun

The spell of heavy rains will continue in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand even today, August 24. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for torrential rains in some areas of Nainital, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts including Dehradun.

While, there is a possibility of several rounds of heavy rains in other districts as well. Meteorologists say that due to heavy rains till the end of August, there is a possibility of landslides in sensitive areas of the hilly districts. In such a situation, instructions have been given to remain vigilant during day and night in these areas.

Heavy rains continue to cause damage in hilly regions of the state. Due to heavy rains in Chamoli district on Friday night, the Badrinath Highway has not been able to open for vehicular movement even for the second day. Due to heavy landslide on the highway in the landslide area of ​​Parthdeep in Nandprayag, the movement of vehicles was being done through the Nandprayag-Saikot-Kothiyalsain motor road, but on Saturday morning at around 6:30 a.m., a truck’s tyre got stuck in the drain near Saikot village, due to which a long line of vehicles has formed on both sides of the road. Devotees going on pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib have made a space for two-wheelers here, but the movement of buses, tempo travellers and trucks was hampered. About 600 pilgrims are stranded on the highway.
