Soon passport will not be used as address proof
Your passport will not work as your address proof soon. According to the Ministry of External Affairs announcement, the last page of the passport will not be printed. Name, father or legal guardian’s name, mother’s name, spouse’s name and address are printed on the last page of Indian passport. This decision has been taken after the report of the three-member committee set up by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The committee reviewed the things which said that the name of the father can be removed from the passport.
The External Affairs Ministry spokesman said that the report of the committee has been accepted. The last page of the passport will be kept empty in the new version. Though all the information will still be stored in the Ministry of External Affairs database so it will not make any difference at government level.
The spokesman said, “Now, the last page of the passport will not be printed, passports with orange colored jackets will be issued for passport holders with an ECR (immigration check) status and regular blue passports will be issued for non-ECR statuses.
