07 people including two IAS and one PCS officer suspended in Haridwar land scam

Taking a tough stand on the land scam in Haridwar Municipal Corporation, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to suspend seven officers including two IAS, one PCS officer, in this case three officers have already been suspended, while the service of two has already been terminated. In this way, 10 officers have been suspended so far in this case.
After questions were raised on the purchase of unsuitable 2.3070 hectares of land located near the garbage dump in village Sarai by Haridwar Municipal Corporation for crores of rupees, Chief Minister Dhami had ordered an inquiry into the matter. After which Secretary Ranveer Singh Chauhan conducted a preliminary investigation of the matter and submitted the report to the government on May 29 itself. On the basis of this investigation report, the Chief Minister had directed the Personnel Department to take action against the guilty officers. On which the Personnel and Vigilance Department today issued orders to suspend all the seven accused officers.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Personnel Department today suspended the then administrator of Haridwar Municipal Corporation and current DM Karmendra Singh, the then Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary, the then SDM of Haridwar Ajayveer Singh, Senior Finance Officer Nikita Bisht, Senior Personal Assistant Vicky, Registrar Kanungo Rajesh Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer of Haridwar Tehsil Kamaldas.
The Chief Minister said that ‘our government has made it clear from the very first day that in public service, not ‘post’ but ‘duty’ and ‘accountability’ are important. No matter how senior a person is, if they disregards public interest and rules, action is certain. We want to develop a new corruption-free work culture in Uttarakhand. All public servants will have to live up to its standards.’
