Chief Minister lays foundation stone for 34 major works for Kumbh Mela Haridwar

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone for 34 important infrastructure works worth ₹234.55 crore to ensure the divine and grand celebration of the Kumbh Mela Haridwar in 2027. At the ceremony held at the Kumbh Mela Control Building, the Chief Minister stated that these infrastructure works will not only contribute to the successful, safe, and well-organized conduct of the fair but will also strengthen the long-term development of Haridwar city.

Details of the Foundation Stone Laid Down Works

  1. Ghat Construction and Irrigation Infrastructure, (Irrigation Department) – 7 works costing ₹70.54 crore
    Construction and redevelopment of ghats at various locations on the right and left banks of the Upper Ganga Canal. Construction of a 90-meter span composite steel girder two-lane bridge. Installation, repair, and maintenance of 3 temporary bridges.
  2. Road and Transportation Infrastructure (Public Works Department) – 12 works costing ₹100 crore. 127.23 crore
    Widening and strengthening of the Bahadarabad-SIDCUL four-lane road. Widening of National Highway 334 Delhi-Haridwar-Dehradun. Renovation and beautification of pavements using BC bituminous concrete in the city area. Development of the administrative road corridor.
  3. Drinking Water and Water Supply Infrastructure (Jal Sansthan) – 9 works costing ₹18.11 crore
    Restructuring of pumping water supply schemes. Construction of a 1500 KL capacity overhead tank and tube well. Construction of 5 RCC infiltration wells of 10 meter diameter.
  4. Pilgrim Amenities and Support Infrastructure – 6 works costing ₹18.67 crore
    Development of facilities for pilgrims on the Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi temple routes. Construction of barracks and medicine storage rooms. Renovation of the Mela Control Building and construction of additional barracks. These works will ensure the convenience, safety, and ease of pilgrims at the Kumbh Mela. Senior officers of the concerned departments were present in the programme and they stressed on timely and quality implementation of the projects.
