Bus accident in Maharashtra, 26 burnt to death

A tragic bus accident took place in Maharashtra’s Buldhana on late Friday night. The bus going from Nagpur to Pune hit the pole, climbed the divider and overturned, causing it to catch fire. As per reports there were 33 people in the bus, out of which 26 died on the spot due to burns. These include 3 children.

8 people saved their lives by breaking the window glass of the bus. The accident took place at around 1:30 am on the Samridhi Mahamarg Expressway near Pimpalkhuta village near Sindkhed Raja in Buldhana district.

Buldhana SP Sunil Kadasen said, the driver of the bus has survived in the accident. He told that the accident happened after the tire burst and the bus caught fire. Later the diesel tank of the bus caught fire, due to which the fire spread. About 33 passengers were traveling in the bus. Most died of burns.

Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan said that the police have taken the bus driver and conductor into custody. On the other hand, 4 people died in a collision between a car and a vehicle in Nashik.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver had lost balance on the bus. The bus first hit an iron pole. Then collided with the concrete divider built in the middle of the road and overturned. The bus fell to the left, causing the bus door to come down towards the road due to which the passengers had no way out. The police have taken out the dead bodies from the bus.

People present on the spot say that the diesel tank of the bus exploded due to overturning. Due to this diesel spread on the road. This started a fire. In no time, the fire engulfed the entire bus.

DM said – DNA of dead bodies will be handed over to relatives

Buldhana District Collector Dr. HP Tummod reached the district hospital to meet the injured in the bus accident. He said- 25 people have died in the accident. The dead bodies are being identified. After identification by DNA, we will hand over the dead body to the relatives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have expressed grief over the accident. The PM announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
