Under the first phase of the upcoming Census 2027 (Houselisting and Housing Census), you will be able to easily enter your details from the comfort of your home starting April 10th, 2026. The portal for this has been released. The entire process will only take 15 to 20 minutes.
The Uttarakhand House Self-Enumeration website (https://se.census.gov.in) will be available starting April 10th. You will need to visit it and select your state. Experts advise using a laptop or desktop to accurately mark your home’s location on the map. Entering the name of the head of the household and a mobile number is mandatory for self-enumeration.
A mobile number can only be used for one family. The name of the head of the household entered at the time of registration cannot be changed later. The language selection must also be done carefully, as it cannot be changed once the OTP verification is complete.
Mark your home on the map
The most important feature of this new process is interactive mapping. Residents will need to drag a red marker displayed on the screen to the exact location of their home. This will facilitate data verification by enumerators during field visits. After completing the questionnaire and submitting the data, the system will generate a unique 11-digit Self-Enumeration Identification Number (SE ID) beginning with the letter H. This ID will also be sent via SMS and email.
What to do when the enumerator visits your home
When the census enumerator visits your home, they will simply need to show their SE ID. If the ID matches the enumerator’s records, the household’s data will be accepted directly. There will be no need for a lengthy re-question. However, if the ID does not match, the enumerator will collect the information again. Data can be saved as a draft before final submission, but no modifications will be possible after submission. Technical information, such as building number and census house number, will be entered by the enumerator themselves.
