Cong leader Sajjan Kumar sentenced to life imprisonment in 1984 riots case
After the conviction, guilty Sajjan Kumar will have to surrender till December 31. On Monday the bench of Justice S. Murlidhar and Justice Vinod Goel passed this ruling. Sentenced to life imprisonment for Sajjan Kumar, a fine of Rs five lakh has also been imposed. Earlier, the lower court acquitted Sajjan Kumar.

At the same time, the lower court had acquitted Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 Sikh Riots case in 2013 and the remaining accused have been convicted by the court.
At the same time, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Joint MLA of BJP-Akali Dal (Badal) said: “We thank the court. Unless Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar are hanged, our fight will continue till then. ‘

After the riots following the assassination of Indira Gandhi, five members of the same family were killed in November 1984 in the Rajnagar area of Delhi Cantonment. In this case, Justice S Murlidhar and Justice Vinod Goyal, the double bench of the High Court, reserved their decision on October 29 after hearing arguments on appeals filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), riot victims and convicts.
In fact, the CBI had challenged the lower court’s decision to acquit Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the murder case of five Sikhs in the Raj Nagar area of Delhi Cantonment on November 1, 1984.
