Dearness allowance of central employees increased by 3%

The central government gave a gift to the central employees on Wednesday. The dearness allowance (DA) of central employees was increased by 3 percent. This decision was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information in a press conference.

With this increase in DA, it has increased to 53 percent. This increase will come into effect from July 1, 2024. In such a situation, the employees will also be given arrears from July till now. This will benefit more than one crore central government employees and pensioners.

DA increased to 53 percent

Central employees get DA and pensioners get DR. Till now DA was 50 percent of the basic salary. After today’s increase, it has become 53 percent. It was believed that the government could increase it before the festivals. It was last increased in March 2024. It was increased by 4 percent. This increase was implemented from January 2024.

The increase in DA has also increased the salary of central employees. If the monthly salary of an employee is Rs 50 thousand, then if there is a 3 percent increase in DA, then they will get an additional Rs 1500.

Increase is done twice a year

DA increase is announced on the basis of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), which measures changes in retail prices in different sectors. Usually, the central government revises the DA twice a year, in January and July. Its official announcement is usually made later. DA applies to existing employees. At the same time, pensioners get DR. With the increase in DA, government employees will get increased salary.
