Strong disturbance in the Bay of Bengal, situation IMD alerts for next 2 to 3 days

These days the southwest monsoon is active in the western, northern and eastern parts of the country. Due to this, there is moderate to heavy rain in Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal. Torrential rains have also been recorded in the northeastern states. The situation is very bad in some states. In such a situation, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest update regarding the weather forecast. Meteorologists have issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in some states. Due to strong movements in the Bay of Bengal, the IMD has expressed the possibility of the situation worsening.

Meteorologists have issued an alert in view of the increasing movement in the Bay of Bengal. A low pressure area remains in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, heavy rains have occurred in some parts of Odisha on Friday. Cyclonic system is also formed in some parts of the Bay of Bengal. IMD said in its forecast that due to the formation of low pressure and cyclonic system, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Odisha as well as some surrounding states. In such a situation, the government and administration have been alerted.

Effect will also be seen in Bengal and Jharkhand

Meteorologists said that due to the formation of low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains occurred in some parts of Odisha on Friday. IMD said that a cyclonic system has formed over South Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal (areas adjoining the Ganges). Due to its effect, a low pressure area formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal on Friday morning. The weather office said that other states may also come under its grip as the cyclonic system moves southwards. IMD said in its alert, ‘It is likely to become more effective in the next 2-3 days and move northwest in West Bengal-Jharkhand.’ It may also affect some parts of Bihar.

Heavy to very heavy rain alert

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul in Odisha. Heavy rains are expected in Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack. The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) of Odisha said that Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Kendrapara will receive heavy to very heavy rains at some places and low-lying areas will be severely impacted. The SRC has directed the concerned collectors to keep the administrative machinery ready to deal with any situation. The SRC has directed the district collectors to clean the drains.
