A car carrying devotees from Bareilly on their way to visit Baba Neem Karoli’s ashram at Kainchi Dham plunged into a gorge near Niglat. Three members of the family died in the accident, while six others, including a 7-year-old child, were injured. Police rescued the injured from the gorge and, with the help of the 108 ambulance service, took them to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Bhowali. After receiving first aid, all the injured were referred to a higher medical center.
According to police information, Rahul Patel, 35, left his residence in Bareilly, on Thursday morning around 6:00 AM with eight other family members to visit Kainchi Dham. The car was being driven by Rahul’s brother-in-law, Karan, a resident of Gujarat. Around 9:30 AM, while traveling from Bhowali towards Kainchi Dham, their Scorpio N car went out of control and fell into a gorge approximately 50 meters deep, coming to rest in the Shipra River below.
Police from the local station, along with the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), immediately launched a rescue operation and brought all the injured to the CHC in Bhowali.
