Major accident near Ratighat in Nainital; car falls into gorge, three dead

A horrific road accident occurred late Saturday night, November 22, on the Bhowali-Almora National Highway 109 in Nainital district. Three teachers died on the spot, while one teacher was seriously injured. The accident occurred near Ratighat.

All the teachers were traveling from Almora’s Hawalbagh area to attend a wedding ceremony. Their SUV, traveling from Almora to Haldwani, suddenly lost control and crossed a deep ravine and plunged into the Shipra River. The accident was so severe that the vehicle was completely destroyed.

Upon receiving information about the accident, Khairna outpost in-charge Harsh Bahadur Pal immediately arrived at the scene with a police team. Subsequently, the SDRF team also arrived. With the help of the police, SDRF, and local residents, a rescue operation was carried out despite the darkness.
