Online registration facility will soon be started for the devotees visiting Kainchi Dham. For this, the proposal sent by the District Magistrate Nainital has been approved by the government. Now the Tourism Department will conduct a survey to know the carrying capacity of the area. In this, ANPR cameras are being installed for number plate recognition of vehicles and cameras are being installed at the gate of the temple for head counting of devotees.
20-22 thousand devotees arriving daily
It is noteworthy that the district administration had conducted a survey to find out the problems of traffic jams and other problems in the area due to the excessive number of devotees reaching Kainchi Dham. The report revealed that during the survey period, 3,72,000 devotees reached Kainchi Dham in 20 days. The number of devotees reaching Kainchi Dham on weekends was 20 to 22 thousand per day. Whereas as per the capacity assessment of the management committee, only about seven thousand devotees can easily visit the temple in a day. In such a situation, during the days of the survey, three times more devotees had reached the temple than its capacity.
DM Nainital sent this report to the Tourism Secretary and recommended starting the facility of online registration for the devotees visiting Kainchi Dham, so that accurate data of the devotees is available. This will help the administration to improve the arrangements in the area. The survey report also states that due to the arrival of lakhs of devotees on special occasions, traffic jams are also occurring in the area. Due to this, the local people and tourists along with the devotees are troubled.
District Magistrate Vandana Singh said that after the proposal sent to the government, the Tourism Department has formed a team to survey the carrying capacity of Kainchi Dham and the surrounding area and to install cameras at various places and has started the work. For this, at the local level, the SDM of Kainchi Dham has been made the nodal officer to guide and assist the team.
