16 PCS officers of Uttarakhand promoted to IAS officers, Center issues notification

16 PCS officers of the state have become IAS. Today on Tuesday, the Central Government has issued a notification. With this the years old wish of PCS officers has been fulfilled.

Nearly 11 years have elapsed since the dispute over the seniority of PCS officers was settled. The seniority dispute between PCS officers appointed and promoted by direct recruitment was going on since the year 2011. The government gave promoted pay scales to the officers, but deprived them of promotion.

In view of the shortage of PCS officers on the formation of a separate Uttarakhand state, the government had made the Tehsildar and the caretaker Tehsildars the sub-district magistrates by giving ad-hoc promotions.
