Administration announces school closure due to heavy rain alert

Today a warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department for many hill districts including Nainital, Pithoragarh. The effect of torrential rains is also being seen. Due to the alert, the District Magistrates of Pithoragarh and Nainital have issued instructions to keep schools closed in both the districts today. In view of the red alert issued for Nainital and Pithoragarh districts on July 09, the District Magistrate of both the districts declared a holiday in government, semi-government, private schools and Anganwadi centers of the district.

According to the immediate weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, Dehradun, on July 9 (Saturday), there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Nainital and Pithoragarh districts. In view of the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, Nainital District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal and Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan issued orders in all government, semi-government and private schools of the district (all educational institutions operating from class 01 to 12) and Anganwadi centers to keep the institutions closed on July 9 (Saturday).
