Asia Cup 2025 schedule released; India Pakistan placed in same group
The Asia Cup cricket tournament will be played in September this year. This was announced by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday. The tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The schedule of the Asia Cup 2025 has been announced. According to this, the tournament will start from September 9. At the same time, its title match will be played on September 28.
In view of the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka, this Asia Cup tournament will be held in T20 format. The format of the Asia Cup is usually according to the next global tournament of the ICC.
The venue of the Asia Cup was decided in the ACC meeting on 24 July. All 25 member countries participated in this meeting. Although the tournament is hosted by the BCCI, it is being held in the UAE because India and Pakistan have agreed to play matches only at neutral venues till 2027 due to the current tension between the two countries.
According to the agreement with the ACC broadcasters, India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group and they will get another chance to face each should they make it to the Super Six stage. If both the teams reach the final, there will be a possibility of a third match in the tournament.
8 teams will play in Asia Cup for the first time
A total of 8 teams will participate in the Asia Cup 2025. This will be the first time that there will be so many teams in the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup was organized for the first time in 1984 and till now the Asia Cup has been played a total of 16 times. But in 2025, it is going to be the first time when a total of 8 teams will be participating in the Asia Cup. The names of these 8 teams are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, UAE and Oman.
