The third match of the 5 Test match Border-Gavaskar (BGT) series between India and Australia started in Brisbane. On the first day of the match on Saturday (14 December), Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss. He decided to bowl first. Due to rain, only 13.2 overs could be played on the first day. These overs were played in the first session and after that the game could not be played throughout the day. In view of the continuous rain, the umpires declared stumps. At the time of stumps, Usman Khawaja was unbeaten on 19 and Nathan McSweeney on 4 runs.
In the third match, two changes were made in Team India. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and fast bowler Harshit Rana were dropped. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Akash Deep were given a chance in place of both. India had won the first match of the series in Perth. It surprised the host team by defeating them by 295 runs. Team India had reached Australia after losing 0-3 against New Zealand on home ground. No one expected such a performance from them. India took a 1-0 lead. After this, the second match was played with the pink ball in Adelaide. Australia made a comeback and won the match by 10 wickets and leveled the series at 1-1.
