Ind vs Ban Test series 2024: India wins series 2-0

The second match of the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh was played in Kanpur. Tuesday, October 1, was day 5 of this Test. The second and third days were completely washed out by rain. On the first day, only 35 overs could be played. Bangladesh scored 233 runs in its first innings. India declared its first innings at 285 for nine shattering several records on the way. Team India had a lead of 52 runs. Bangladesh’s second innings ended at 146 runs and thus India got a target of 95 runs. India achieved this target by losing three wickets.

After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh scored 233 runs in its first innings. In response, India batted aggressively and declared its first innings at 285 for nine. India then got a lead of 52 runs. In the second innings, Bangladesh team scored 146 runs and gave a target of 95 runs to India. Officially, 90 overs are bowled in a day in a Test. Bangladesh played 74.2 overs in their first innings, India played 34.4 overs in their first innings, Bangladesh played 47 overs in their second innings and India played 17.2 overs in their second innings. All these add up to around 174 overs and this is less than the total overs of two days (180) play.

On day 1 only 35 overs could be bowled before rain played spoilsport. The game resumed on the fourth day and after dismissing Bangladesh, India again batted aggressively and made the record of scoring the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 runs by any team in Tests. After this, India dismissed Bangladesh quickly in the second innings and chased the easy target.

India has clean swept Bangladesh for the fifth time in a Test series of two or more matches. Team India has previously done this in 2004/05, 2009/10, 2019/20, 2022/23. At the same time, India has clean swept a team for the 37th time in overall Tests. India has won the 18th consecutive Test series at home.
