IPL 2025: DC defeats LSG in high scoring thriller

Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 1 wicket in a thrilling match of IPL 2025. The team achieved the target of 210 runs on the third ball of the 20th over. Impact player Ashutosh Sharma gave the team victory by hitting a six, he remained not out after scoring 66 runs in 31 balls.

Delhi needed 6 runs in the last over. Shahbaz Ahmed came to bowl, Mohit Sharma escaped being stumped on his first ball. Mohit took a single on the next ball and Ashutosh came on strike. Ashutosh hit a six in the front direction on the third ball and gave the team a thrilling victory.

The target was 210 runs

Delhi won the toss and invited Lucknow to bat. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran from Lucknow’s side attacked the Delhi bowlers. Marsh hit 72 runs in 36 balls in which 6 sixes and as many fours were seen. On the other hand, Pooran also thrashed the bowlers, he scored 75 runs in just 30 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 6 fours. Due to these innings, Lucknow put 209 runs on the scoreboard.

Delhi had a poor start in the powerplay

The team of Delhi Capitals flopped in the powerplay itself. The team lost its 5 batsmen on a score of just 65 runs, batting also failed in the middle order. But Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraaj Nigam, who came at number 7, changed the match. Tristan Stubbs also brought life to the match by playing an innings of 34 runs, but then Ashutosh and Vipraaj mounted a tremendous counter attack.

Won the match in the last over

Vipraaj Nigam was seen in a dashing style in his debut match itself, he scored 39 runs in just 14 balls. But he lost his wicket while trying to hit a boundary on the 15th ball. After this, the entire responsibility fell on Ashutosh Sharma. In the last over, the team needed 6 runs to win and had only one wicket. Mohit Sharma gave the strike to Ashutosh in the final over and he finished the match with a six. Ashutosh played a brilliant innings of 66 runs and proved to be the hero of the match. Delhi secured 2 points by winning the match by 1 wicket.
