Jannik Sinner Makes History by Winning His Fifth Consecutive Masters 1000 Title
World No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner has claimed the men’s singles title at the Madrid Open. Delivering a magnificent performance in the final, he defeated Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2. With this victory, Sinner has become the first male player in history to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles. He is also the first player to win the first four Masters events of the season.
This title in Madrid marks Sinner’s ninth Masters 1000 title. It represents the culmination of a magnificent run that began following his retirement in Shanghai last October. Since then, the 24-year-old has won titles in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and now Madrid. Throughout this period, he has dropped only a handful of sets across all these tournaments combined.
The Italian star has now won 28 consecutive matches in Masters events, while also winning 56 of the last 58 sets he has played at this level. Sinner has also won 45 of his last 47 matches, a testament to his remarkable consistency.
Sinner has already secured eight of the nine Masters 1000 titles; to date, only the Italian Open in Rome has remained beyond his reach. Now, the 24-year-old has the opportunity to complete a ‘Career Golden Masters’ on home soil during the tournament scheduled for 2026. The tournament is set to begin next week. His goal is to join Novak Djokovic in that exclusive club—comprising only those players who have achieved the distinction of a ‘Career Golden Masters.’
