Neeraj Chopra breaches 90 m mark in Javelin; finishes second in Doha

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra created history in the Doha Diamond League. For the first time in his illustrious career, he was able to haul the javelin above the 90 meters mark. Neeraj threw the javelin 90.23 meters away and broke his own national record of 89.94 meters. He did this feat in his third attempt. Neeraj Chopra has become the 25th and third Asian player overall to cross the 90 meter mark.
Two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra made a historic throw during the javelin throw final at the Qatar Sports Complex. Neeraj started the event brilliantly with a solid throw of 88.44 meters in the first attempt. His second attempt was declared a foul, but the 27-year-old athlete created history with a tremendous third throw of 90.23 meters. He performed his best by breaking his previous best record of 89.94 meters set in the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022.
Neeraj’s long-awaited 90m mark was the only missed milestone in his already illustrious career. With this throw, he not only broke the Indian national record but also put to rest any doubts about his place among the sport’s all-time greats.
Neeraj finished second
Neeraj Chopra may have hurled the javelin 90.23m, but he finished second as Germany’s Julian Weber beat him with a last throw of 91.06m.
