RCB continue undefeated streak in IPL 2021

The 10th match of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first and with the help of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers half-centuries, Bangalore scored 204 for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Kolkata’s team was able to score 166 runs for 8 wickets. Thus by winning the match by 38 runs, Bangalore scored a hat-trick of victories in the tournament.

Consecutive defeat for Kolkata

Chasing a target of 205 runs, Kolkata’s team got the first blow in the second over when Shubman Gill scored 21 runs off 9 balls and became the victim of Kyle Jamieson. Kolkata’s second setback came in the form of Rahul Tripathi, who scored 25 runs in 24 balls. He was dismissed by Washington Sundar. Nitish Rana scored 18 runs and was caught by Padikkal of the bowling of Chahal.

After this, the team got the fourth blow in the form of Dinesh Karthik. Captain Eoin Morgan was caught by Virat Kohli on the bowling of current purple cap holder Harshal Patel on the score of 29 runs. Shakib Al Hasan was bowled by Kyle Jamison for 26 runs off 25 balls. After this, Pat Cummins and then finally Andre Russell lost their wickets.

For Bangalore, Jamison took 3 wickets while Chahal and Harshal took two wickets each.

Maxwell – De Villiers’ half-century propels RCB to big total

Captain Virat Kohli came to the ground with Devdutt Padikkal once again to start the innings. Varun Chakraborty scored a big break from the second ball of his first over. Virat Kohli was dismissed by just 5 runs. On the last ball of the over, Padikal was dismissed by Varun to give the team another blow. Maxwell scored a half-century in the second match in a row. He completed his fifty runs with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes off 28 balls. Significantly the swashbuckling right hander had a lean IPL for the last 5 years in which he was unable to cross the 50 digit mark even once. But since joining the RCB franchise, Maxwell seems to have rediscovered his form that has led him to be the orange cap holder in the initial phase of IPL 2021.
